Anchal's zero-waste organic cotton scrunchies are made by upcycling the fabric scraps that have accumulated from the cutting process of their garment production. Durable and stylish with a modern edge, these kantha scrunchies are the perfect accessory to pull your hair back with.
Note from Liz: I am honored to carry a selection of bags and coats from Anchal. When I came across Anchal while planning what I would carry at Three Bird Layne, I was first struck by the gorgeous patchwork and stitching. Then as I read more about their story, I realized that their values are literally woven into each item. And that story is further honored when the artists embroider their name into each finished piece they make.
More about Anchal: Sisters Maggie and Colleen Clines founded Anchal (pronounced on-chal) in 2010, believing that design can change lives. Anchal provides valuable skills training in textile production and fair-wage employment to marginalized women in India. The holistic program, run by our NGO partner, includes education workshops, health services, and community benefits, fostering financial independence and creativity. The artisans create handmade products that blend traditional techniques with eco-friendly methods like vintage and organic cotton, minimizing environmental impact and championing sustainability in the fashion industry. Each product carries the hand-stitched signature of the woman who skillfully created it.
