more about Three Bird Layne
Three Bird Layne opened in the fall of 2024 inside what was once the old hardware store in Culver, Indiana. Liz Lamoreux (hi, that's me!) is the owner + maker who runs this space. You will find gifts, art supplies, inspiration, and many of my favorite things inside the shop. You'll also find my studio + workshop space where I create + host workshops and other events. And for those of you looking for Soul Mantras - the jewelry, pocket talismans, and other things I've been making for a long time - they are going to be available here at Three Bird Layne very soon.
A little more about me: I'm a writer and artist who has been teaching about mindfulness and creativity online and in-person for more than 15 years. My small family moved back to Indiana after 20 years on the west coast because we just couldn't stay away from this small town I love so much. My kid is a student at Culver Academy and my husband teaches there too. And I'm living a dream into reality with this space where people can come and share stories and make things and find inspiration and connection. You can connect with me here in this space + at my website and on Instagram.
you will find here at Three Bird Layne
1. A love of stories. Just about everything in the shoppe has a story behind it. Look for little signs throughout that share some of these stories with you. And I believe if you listen closely, you might just hear some stories that this almost 130 year-old building tells.
2. A love of poetry. If you spend enough time with me, you are probably going to fall in love with poetry. For real. You won’t realize it until suddenly you find yourself quoting Mary Oliver, Rumi, and Joy Harjo, and then your bedside table includes poetry alongside your usual reads.
3. Conversation about The And Space. This is what I call the place where we can hold more than one feeling, thought, belief at a time. We can hold beauty & grief, hope & uncertainty, delight & exhaustion. We can reach toward curiosity and compassion even when we don't understand everything around us. We can honor that things are hard & messy and beautiful & miraculous even in the same week, sometimes even in the same moment.
4. An invitation to be side by side. I believe in taking the time to simply be with one another as we walk through life. I believe that when we’re side by side, even if we’re just quietly together, we will notice the ways we are alike and all want to do some good in the world. This is one reason why I’m so glad there is a bench just outside the studio.
5. Reminders to pause and pay attention. When we take time to be present, we are better able to show up in the world with an open mind and heart. If you stick around here long enough, you will probably find yourself taking some deep breaths, pausing to photograph the sky at sunset, or even starting a journal of daily musings and discoveries.
I’m so glad you’re here and I look forward to many conversations to come.
Side by side,
Liz
